Why This Story Matters:

Growing up in Trinidad—a melting pot of diverse cultures—I’ve seen firsthand how complex relationships can be. My heritage is shaped by African, Indian, European, and indigenous influences, which makes me uniquely aware of the many layers that exist, equipping me with the tools, and a natural understanding of how to deal with cultural and religious barriers when dealing with society, within every person and relationship.

This understanding of diversity and the complexities that come with it shapes the way I write. In Beneath the Lies, I wanted to explore how the complexity of trust and love is affected when one person’s secrets begin to unravel.
